Japan - March 2009

The Tokyo Fire department in Japan has officially accepted and used the RRF Rapid Response Flask (known as ˜SAT119" in Japan) - a throw type fire extinguisher to enhance fire fighting and rescue works in Tokyo. The RRF is developed and manufactured by Bonex Inc., Japan to fight fires in their initial stages and to offer a simpler option in fire fighting and rescuing. This is the first and only hand thrown fire extinguisher to obtain recognition from fire departments in Japan.

The RRF is a patented product and it is the first hand thrown fire extinguisher granted NS safety certification in Japan. Bonex Inc. successfully sold more than 300,000 units of the RRF throughout Japan last year (2008). In Korea, under the Fire Safety Act (December 2006), installation of throw type fire extinguishers is mandatory at all facilities for children and the elderly. The RRF has also undergone tests with the BSI (UK) and PSB (Singapore).

Recognizing its superb performance in quenching fires in their initial stages and its simple use, Tokyo Fire Department aims to utilize the RRF as the first fire fighting tool to assist in rescuing trapped victims before the advance team start to extinguishing fires with pumper trucks. With the RRF it is hoped to gain time to enable the rapid rescue of victims and the timely evacuation of fire fighters.

The RRF will be initially introduced and used by 4 fire stations in Tokyo, and is expected to be extensively deployed by fire departments in the other prefectures in Japan over the course of 2009.

Korea - Dec 2006

In Korea a new law has been introduced with reference to the RRF Rapid Response Flask (known as ˜One-Shot" in Korea). Under the law, installation of 'Throwing fire extinguishing tool' is mandatory at all facilities for infant, children and the elderly from December 7, 2006.
